Helena, MT Affordable Housing Task Force Earns Ambassador City Designation
Washington, October 19, 2009 - Helena, Mont., has been named a 2009 Ambassador City by the National Association of REALTORS® and the U.S. Conference of Mayors for the Helena Area Housing Task Force. The task force is working to address Helena’s current and future housing needs. They will begin by preparing a comprehensive housing affordability strategy.
The Helena Area Housing Task Force is jointly led by the city of Helena and the Helena Association of REALTORS®. Other task force members are the Rocky Mountain Development Council, Helena Housing Authority, Helena Building Industry Association, Downtown Helena Business Improvement District, and local banks, title companies and appraisers.
At a recent event, REALTOR® Wendy Furth, NAR liaison, Housing and Diversity, joined Dustin Joyce, Council for the New American City, to present the Ambassador for Cities plaque and a $5,000 check to Helena Mayor James E. Smith and 2009 HAR President Steve Netschert.
The Ambassadors for Cities program was launched in 2003 by NAR and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, through its Council on the New American City. The program encourages cities and REALTOR® associations to form partnerships to promote homeownership and affordable
housing opportunities.
